‘The Office for public garages and car parks Belgrade’ was founded in 1972 by Belgrade City Council with a view to providing Belgrade citizens with parking spaces and enabling them to park their vehicles in a way which does not hinder regular flow of traffic and does not endanger traffic safety. Their duty was also maintenance and exploitation of public garages and car parks at the territory of Belgrade city.
In 1978. the Office developed into Business organization for public garages and car parks ‘Parking Servis’, with 5 departments in its structure. In 1982, ‘Parking Servis’ was transformed into Business organization without departments. In 1989 in accordance with the then laws and regulations Parking Servis was organized as a Community enterprise for public garages and car parks.
Today’s structure and the title Public communal enterprise for public garages and car parks ‘Parking Servis’ Belgrade, this enterprise was given in 1992. when by order of Belgrade City Council it was organized as Public communal enterprise.
In 2000., upon young management team arrival at the leadership of the Company, JKP ‘Parking Servis’ underwent major changes which shortly after yielded good results. Fine business results as well as steps, which we took with the aim of solving parking problems in Serbian capital, earned us a good reputation in the country and worldwide. ‘Parking Servis’ have presented their solutions to the administration of many European metropolises, among others to Athens and Moscow. ‘Parking Servis’ experts have developed projects for parking system regulation in Subotica, Arandjelovac, Pancevo, Vrnjacka Banja, Zajecar and Kragujevac while protocol of cooperation has been signed with JP ‘Gradski Parking’ Skopje.
Today, JKP Parking Servis manage, exploit and maintain 26.500 parking places. More than 17.000 parking places are in zone designated areas with appropriate regulations and fees while 9.500 places are found in garages and car parks.
Young management team, whose average age is 40, have succeeded in a short period to achieve outstanding results. We will remind you of some of them:
We have increased the number of parking places in the city centre
We have transformed each public area which was without function, into a temporary car park
Public garages have been renovated and modernized. We have launched automation and pay points in order to simplify parking payment.
In the very centre of the city we have succeed in providing parking places to a larger number of users, by launching parking zones with time limits, which have increased ‘frequency’ at one parking place by 4 to 8 times.
We have introduced ‘Fast Park’ to Belgrade – ‘Fast Park’ is a system of pre-fabricated garages, which has helped us to double the number of places at the car parks where this system is installed.
We have set up the Division for development and organising of parking control which have introduced trained controllers who help You to find your way in zone parking system and contribute to maintaining order in parking at the city’s streets.
We have developed additional activities. In our car centres you can have technical inspection and insurance of your vehicle done. Modern car wash is available as well. 'International cargo terminal' in Block 53 at New Belgrade offers customs services, merchandise reloading and storage, freight vehicles parking as well as catering services.
That is not all. In cooperation with the City Traffic Department, Faculty of Traffic and Transport Engineering under the auspices of Belgrade City Council we continue to search for the ways of increasing the number of parking places in the city centre. Although we have done a lot to improve parking facilities, there is still a problem of parking. The garage ‘Pionirski grad’ is the first in a line of underground garages, which proved to be the best solution to this problem.
Not to sound pretentious, hoping that you agree with us, we think that in the years behind us we have significantly improved the parking system in Belgrade.
Naturally we would not be satisfied with the achieved. The new challenges and plans worth realizing are ahead of us. Our aim is that all Belgrade citizens and guests are satisfied with our services.
