Suburban municipalities – first in line

24.10.2008.

During the first three weeks of the campaign ‘Pupils ask you – slow down by the school’, the promoters have visited four Belgrade municipalities – Barajevo, Lazarevac, Obrenovac and Mladenovac. 3000 fluorescent vests have been distributed to the pupils in twenty-five suburban schools.

Traffic policemanAn educational play has been shown in each of these schools. A JKP ‘Parking Servis’ promoter and a traffic policeman have informed children about the basic rules of safety in traffic.

‘We hope that the children will learn the stuff we presented and that they will stick to the basic rules of conduct in traffic. We are pleasantly surprised by the things they already know. They have met with most of the subject in their pre schools, and we would like to express our gratitude to their teachers for the good job they have done’, says Miljan Vojnovic, a campaign promoter.

This campaign and spending time with children give us an opportunity to see how these ‘little people’ see the world around them.

When asked how a traffic policeman stops the traffic, one first grader says: ‘with a ‘light baton’.

The question what is the fluorescent vest for gives the following answers.

  • we put on the vest so that we are not cold
  • the vest is there so that somebody does not steal us – it glitters
  • it protects us from the rain and snow
  • we wear the vest so that we know we are from THIS school

We are glad that at every step we meet last year’s first graders wearing the fluorescent vests and greet us when they see us.

We have planned to visit schools in Sopot on 29th and 30th October and in Surcin on 5th and 6th November.

Wait for us – we’ll be with you soon!
