At least ten JKP ‘Parking Servis’ attendants are physically attacked every year, and the most recent case occurred last week in Strahinjica Bana Street when a parking attendant was attacked when doing his job. ‘Verbal abuse and insults are everyday thing’ says Radenko Vukovic the Managing Director of Parking control sector for Beoinfo.
‘Job of a parking attendant is extremely difficult because of constant physical activity, weather conditions, direct communication with our customers and more often than not due to exposure to unpleasantness i.e. insults and threats by unscrupulous individuals. In order to avoid incidents it is necessary to work preventatively especially through media. We need to promote all the activities aimed at setting up and maintaining public order and respecting rules of conduct in public services, which meet our citizens needs. If an incident occurs it is essential that all the authorities respond efficiently and in a timely manner in order to identify a perpetrator as well as to press charges and to sentence appropriately the persons who threaten public order and peace and public service normal operations by their behaviour. JKP ‘Parking Servis’ has a great communication with the Police and we are constantly making an effort to improve these relations. When it comes to sanctioning of an attacker it stems from the fact that the police have established the identity of the attacker. In most cases the police identify the attacker and then the misdemeanor or criminal charges are brought against them’, Vukovic points out.
Vukovic thinks that in all circumstances, when possible, we need to appeal to citizens to support the activities, which contribute to the overall organization of the City as well as improving of living conditions. Verbal and physical conflicts are absolutely unnecessary because ‘Parking Servis’ is open to all complaints, suggestions and information.
‘People who work as parking attendants are only doing their job in a way that is prescribed by the relevant authority. We therefore invite all those who have any complaints to contact the Company services at Starine Novaka Street no. 22 in order to verify all the disputed issues and resolve the problem.’ says Vukovic.
JKP ‘Parking Servis’ currently has 153 parking attendants who work in two shifts on weekdays and from 07.00 to 14.00 on Saturdays.
