Zoned parking system has come into effect today on a part of Zvezdara constituency bounded by the streets Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard, Dimitrija Tucovica and Batutova Street. Green zone has been introduced on this area with a time limit of 3 hours.
‘We have launched today 1 700 new zoned parking places which brings the total number of such places in Belgrade to 17 200. We will not stop here because the new zone will be launched on 1st September on Palilula constituency between the streets Ruzveltove, 27. marta, Kraljice Marije, Džordža Vašingtona, Cara Dušana, Bulevara despota Stefana and Cvijićeve Street.’ said Dragoljub Đakonović, Secretary of Transportation.
Đakonović has said that the experts of The Department of Transportation are working on introducing another zone on Vracar constituency between the streets Cara Nikolaja Drugog, Mačvanske, Bore Stankovića, Skerlićeve, Nebojšine, Južnog bulevara, Grčića Milenka, Vojislava Ilića, Stanislava Sremčevića, Bulevara kralja Aleksandra and Branka Krsmanovića Street. According to him it is very unlikely that the zone will be introduced at the whole area because of the narrow streets but the most of that area still will be zoned. Đakonović has added that, where possible, a zone without a time limit will be introduced.
‘The experience of the lower Dorćol and Vračar constituencies tells us that this was a good step forward. In the next two weeks our attendants will not issue fine tickets but only remind the drivers to pay for the parking. I suggest that the residents use this period and obtain monthly subscription tickets’, said Kovačević.
A privileged parking ticket for the residents of the zone costs 457 dinars, while the monthly tickets for disabled drivers are free of charge. The price of a privileged ticket for a business entity is 3 285 dinars. Privileged tickets can be bought in ‘Parking Servis’ office in Starine Novaka Street no. 22 from 07.00 to 21.00 on weekdays and from 07.00 to 14.00 on Saturday. In order to buy such a ticket it is necessary to provide a copy of a ID card and a traffic licence.
Milan Popović, the president of Zvezdara constituency, has expressed his appreciation to Traffic Department and ‘Parking Servis’ for providing the citizens of this part of Zvezdara with easier parking. He has pointed out that this is a very densely populated area with a lot of new residential objects without garages.
‘We are aware that this project will not completely solve the problem of parking but it will reduce the pressure from those people who do not live in this part of the city but daily park their cars here. This means that the residents will be able to park more easily which was our goal’, said Milan Popović.
An hour in the green zone costs 25 dinars and can be paid by sending a text message to 9113.
