New parking tickets for disabled persons, which will come in effect in 2012 on the entire territory of the Republic, were presented on the conference.

Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities regulates their full involvement in all aspects of social life. One of the most important conditions to fulfill disabled persons' independence is providing reserved parking space as well as use of a privileged parking ticket i.e. IPK sticker.

Since the new parking zone system was introduced, and parking places for disabled persons clearly marked, unfortunately, irresponsible drivers have put up fake labels showing a person in a wheelchair. For this reason parking places for disabled persons have been very often occupied.

In order to ensure the best possible mobility of disabled persons, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, JKP ‘Parking Servis', Serbian Parking Association and Youth with Disabilities have launched an initiative for issuing new standardized and protected tickets.

Certain safety measures for preventing counterfeiting have been introduced on the parking tickets. The ticket is put on the right side of the windshield on a conspicuous place. Disabled persons will have an opportunity to use reserved parking places, which are closest to their destination.

Parking ticket for disabled persons aims to facilitate the free movement of disabled persons.

In order to discourage drivers from taking a parking place, which are reserved for disabled persons, JKP ‘Parking Servis' will continue to make its priority to tow away the vehicles from such places.

The Sector for Protection of Persons with Disabilities in the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has implemented a series of activities with a view to improving the status of disabled persons and their equal participation in everyday life of the community.

The aim of introducing a standardized parking ticket is to improve the quality of life of the Disabled Persons and the right to equal privileges when parking a vehicle on the territory of the Republic of Serbia.

By introducing a standardized parking ticket we are improving the inclusion of disabled persons in socio-economic life. We hope that the new tickets will significantly reduce the abuse and thus make it possible for disabled persons to exercise their right to park - it was said in the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
