Specialized primary school ‘Novi Beograd' provided with safety signalization

Within the campaign ‘Pupils ask you - slow down by theschool', JKP ‘Parking Servis' has installed the safety signalization in the vicinity of ‘Novi Beograd' primary school, the only specialized educational institution for children with disabilities in ‘Novi Beograd' municipality.

With a view to improving the safety of children and helping parents who bring their children to schools in cars, JKP ‘Parking Servis' provided in front of the school parking space for vehicles which carry disabled persons.

Two traffic lanes were introduced in the vicinity of the school as well as the zone with a speed limit of 10 km/h. Pedestrians can use the road as well. In order to encourage the children to cross the street on marked places, 4 new pedestrians crossings have been put in and the existing were re-painted.

In the zone of the pedestrian crossing in front of the main entrance to the school a protective fence was set up. It is marked with reflective tapes on the columns and a message ‘Pupils ask you - slow down by the school.'

At the entrance to the school yard from Studentska Street, a new speed bumper was set up and existing ones are marked more clearly with vertical signalization. In front of all the gates in the streets ‘Narodnih heroja', Pariske komune and Studentska the signs ‘Deca na putu' were installed and the ‘ŠKOLA' was written on the street.

Primary school ‘Novi Beograd' has been opened for 42 years for the children with disabilities. Its purpose is to help the children acquire knowledge and skills, helping them become more independent in social life.

JKP ‘Parking Servis' launched the campaign ‘Pupils ask you - slow down by the school' in 2007 with a view to raising awareness of importance of knowing the road rules.

Since the beginning of this school year we have visited 90 primary schools and given away 7 500 high visibility vests. Next week we will be visiting schools at Zvezdara municipality.
