The best solution for increasing the number of parking places, according to all studies, is dividing the city centre into zones. This system has been effective since 21.11.2003. in Belgrade.
The system is very simple. Parking places in the City centre are divided into three zones by priority: red, yellow and green.
In the red zone the streets are close to post offices, hospitals, police stations and other important city institutions. The yellow zone is less crowded while the green one is the least attractive part of the city centre.
Parking time in the red zone is limited to one, in the yellow to two and in the green to three hours. This means you can park your time for the limited period. This system has increased the frequency of ‘comings and goings’ in some situations by 5 times.
