New underground garages

 In 2006., on JKP ‘Parking Servis’ initiative, Institute of Urbanism Belgrade carried out the Analysis of location for building of public underground garages on public building sites in the central Belgrade zone as a part of comprehensive approach to managing parking facilities in the city centre.

The analysis of more than 20 different locations in the city centre have been conducted with the aim of situating the garages under the public traffic and green areas, by using the positive experiences in building and exploitation of the new underground garage ‘Pionirski park’, which is situated under the flower garden in front of the Belgrade City Council building.

The key criterion for the location choice along with the analysis of the locations’ characteristics (infrastructure, geology, green areas, protection measures) was the possibility of spatial organization of the public garage.
