‘Pupils beg you to slow down by the school’

13.03.2008.

PUC ‘Parking Servis’ campaign ‘Pupils beg you to slow down by the school’ will be continued on 17. March in primary schools in Belgrade suburban municipalities. As the campaign was very well received by both adults and children and due to the huge interest of parents and teachers from Belgrade suburban municipalities, during the second term of the current school year children living in these areas will be given their fluorescent vests, booklets, stickers and DVD movies about traffic rules. During school visits, the first graders are in an engaging way shown the most important rules of conduct in traffic. The schoolchildren of primary schools in Grocka, Obrenovac, Barajevo, Lazarevac, Surcin, Mladenovac and Sopot will have an opportunity to see this interesting and interactive programme. The first school where this programme will be shown is ‘Ilija Garasanin’ in Grocka. The campaign is intended for first graders, their parents, teachers and particularly drivers, with a greatest stress being placed on importance of safety of the youngest participants in traffic.

How it all started?

After the preparatory steps the campaign started off on 01. October – The World’s Day of Child, in primary school ‘Banovic Strahinja’. On this occasion the first of 10 500 fluorescent vests were distirbuted. The aim of the campaign, in the first place, is to raise the awareness of all participants in traffic as well as authorities of importance of wearing fluorescent vests and their significance for children safety. It is mandatory in many European countries that all participants in traffic have and use this form of safety. Before this regulation is passed in our country, JKP ‘Parking Servis’ would like to provide the youngest with the protective vests, as in the years to come they would be the ones who would set the example for the others. During the first stage of the campaign PUC ‘Parking Servis’ representatives paid visits to 105 primary schools and 10 schools for the children with special needs and through educational and funny programme they presented to schoolchildren everything they should know about traffic and their participation in it. Each Belgrade first grader received as a gift a fluorescent protective vest, in its size and design adapted for children. The children choir ‘Čarolija’ has recorded a song ‘Look after our pupils’ for the campaign and it became a huge hit. At a ‘Noc reklamozdera’ event this campaign was pronounced the best non-profit campaign in Serbia for 2007. and this success was made possible with the outstanding media support, which from the very beginning realized the importance of the campaign and took an active part in its promotion. PUC ‘Parking Servis’ campaign, with the support of Belgrade City Council, City Education Department, City Traffic Department and Belgrade traffic police will continue until all the first graders in Belgrade get their vests. The organisers’ wish is to keep up our concern for the youngest throughout the whole year and that wearing of vests become a practice which will be adopted by new generations who participate in traffic.
